WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT

The Yard Property

The stable property lies bordered by public parkland, the Stainbank Nature Reserve and the local suburb.  Access is gained via a motorised gate and members may frequent the yard at all times of the day / night.

The Yellowwood Park Stables is a non-profit organisation, and a semi-DIY livery yard. The land is leased to us by the Municipality Department of Sport, Arts & Culture for the purposes of providing affordable equestrian services to the surrounding community.

The Stalls (51).jpg
The Stable Block

We offer individual stalls for each of our horses with sawdust bedding

With the building itself offering both front and back facing stalls

Stalls have half doors or door chains to cater for both Winter and Summer

All horses are stabled at night. We do not offer live-out options at this time.

The Herd & Paddocks

We have created a small herd with our current horses and they have access to the entire property during the day, and all the available grazing.  However, each horse in the herd is also allocated an individual paddock.  These paddocks are used only to feed the horses breakfast and lunch in their own personal space, before being let back out after meals.

Because our horses have free range throughout the property all day (including arena spaces), horse owners do need to be comfortable riding under these circumstances.  However other owners, when around, are always happy to put horses into paddocks or onto leads if requested by riders.

The Grooms

We have two full-time employed grooms who reside on the property.

Their duties include general daily care from grooming to general supervision to feeding  and getting your horse to and from it's paddock. They also undertake all yard maintenance and repairs in between.

On their days off or after hours they will, if available, perform other tasks as requested and can provide assistance at shows for an additional fee.

Both our current grooms have riding and lunging knowledge but this is not part of their standard duties. Owners at their own expense can negotiate with them to lunge or ride their horse/s if needed.

The Feedrooms

We have a number of private feedrooms situated in the stable block  which are assigned to horse owners for the storage of feed, tack or general items.

A main communal feedroom provides a place for members to leave meals for grooms to feed their horses with during the day.

The Picnic Area

A large grassy picnic area with seating and a braai area is available for all members who want to take a break or socialise at the yard, with views over both jumping and dressage arenas.

Lessons & Riding School

We offer private livery to horse owners only, so no established riding school is present.  However, one of our current members does offer lessons to younger children in her own personal capacity.  If you are interested, please contact Jenna directly on 060 965 5885 for details and bookings.
